Like many everday experiences in New York, a trip to Ikea is not your average trip to Ikea. A new location opened in Brooklyn last year and rather than taking the subway or bus, I couldn’t resist taking the free ferry. After delaying my trip for weeks and weeks, mostly due to inclimate weather or laundry, I set off for Pier 11 on one sunny afternoon.

The Ikea ferry arrives. There was quite the lineup, by the way.

On rain-free weekend mornings, I can usually be found biking along the Hudson River bikepath. For longer rides I head uptown to Riverside Park, in the Upper East Side, or to Central Park. The George Washington Bridge is always there in the far distance for most of the route and today I decided to bike to the bridge.
